As the weather starts to cool down (just a little) we notice our FPL bill rise. Here are a few ways to help curb the rise in your bill.

Check your window & door seals.

Take shorter, cooler showers.

Adjust the temp. in freezer and ref.- use energy star appliances.

Wash clothes in cold water / clean lint filter in dryer after each load.

Swap light bulbs for LED bulbs.

Watch time of use rates-cost of elect. is higher at peak times.

Change air filters frequently.

Unplug unused items – phantom or standby power can raise your bill.

Pool pumps run 6 hrs. per day in the summer and 4 hrs. per day in the winter.

Use a programmable thermostat and light timers.

Use ceiling fans to your advantage. Summer turn counterclockwise pushes air down creating a cool breeze and clockwise in the cooler months.

These are just a few ideas that might make the beginning of your holiday season a little brighter. Now how about a couple of easy to make recipes.
